Top: Secondary electron image of the edge of a fractured ceramic membrane filter. The top-most portion of the image is the filter itself; the lower two thirds of the image is the supporting substrate.
Bottom: EDS map of the filter and support structure shown above. Red indicates the presence of carbon, yellow indicates zirconium, and green indicates aluminum.
