Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy in the Transmission Electron Microscope

This image, of a gold scanning tunnelling microscope (STM) tip approaching a faceted gold ball sample, was taken using the transmission electron microscope (TEM). We now have the capability of performing scanning tunnelling microscopy in the TEM, using a new STM holder manufactured by Nanofactory, in Sweden.
