Live Shigella Bacteria on Cilantro

Live Shigella boydii 18 bacteria on the surface of a cilantro leaf, imaged at 100% relative humidity in the ESEM. The bacteria are protected by a biofilm that also makes them difficult to image in their natural state, even at high titiers.
