The image shows the general reaction scheme for the preparation of an end-group modified hyperbranched polymer. The space-filled model is a representative structure of a small (Mw = 6340) hyperbranched polymer terminated with octyl end-groups. The image was composed for, and eventually chosen as the cover image for the Journal of Polymer Science, Part A, Vol. 40, No. 8, April 15, 2002. The polymer model was generated in ChemDraw, the space-filled in Cerius[sup]2[/sup], converted with mol2mel, and rendered in Maya.
